Why?

Our team was inspired by the insights profiles that are presented to students during the 4200-core class.  Insight profiles allow students to have a better understanding of themselves, and their innate strengths and weaknesses.  However, where the insight profile comes up lacking is that it does not connect those strengths and weaknesses with the real world, specifically career paths. As a group, we have created an online resource for students and faculty to help further the usefulness of the insight profile, by listing a series of job titles that correspond to each of the four insight colors (Blue, Red, Yellow, Green).  We have detailed descriptions of these positions along with how they relate to the specific color.  Per color, we will have 10 positions for a total of 40 careers, which we feel will be enough to point students in the right direction. This website is not meant to be a specific plan, but merely a tool to help with student development and career planning. All of this information has been included in this website, which we hope will serve the Daniels community well.

How?

The original plan or timeline for our project was as follows:

April 23-27: Determine course of action, and delineate tasks.
April 30-May 11: Research along with actual writing of specific portions
May 14-18: Create and transfer information to website, also slack time for any project run-over
May 21-25: Week for evaluation and presentation with actual dates to be determined.

The actual implementation of the plan strayed from this plan.  The first two meetings were on schedule. As a team we were able to pick our project, discuss main points, and delineate tasks.  Then as often happens with projects in school, our team became busy with other class work. The week of April 30 to May 11 did not end up being spent doing research, but instead was more of the same work from week one. Only toward the very end of the second week, and into the third week, did our group finally begin the compilation and actual writing of the information. The website also presented a problem, since it ended up being harder to accomplish than we initially planned. The fact that the website did get completed was primarily due to Luc’s expertise and hard work.  In the end, we did complete the project, and while it did not go as planned, we were able to adapt as a team to accomplish our goals.
